Garden Sprites & $5 Friday!
Hello lovely quilters, Block 6 of the sew-along has been uploaded.
You can download it here.
This week's block is a little soot sprite that has adopted us. It's a very timid, young cat and appears to have been lost (or dumped) by it's previous owners. It's very wary of humans and seems to have been mistreated. We've been trying to gain it's trust so we can have our vet check it out, see if it's been micro-chipped, and if possible locate it's owners (or have it re-homed).
It's the most adorable little critter, but we can't allow it to become feral. It spent an hour and a half in the garden with me this morning before it trotted off to whence it came. I don't have a photo of it, except this security camera screenshot from last night :o)

It's completely black, so you can't see it until it pops up like a jack-in-the-box from amongst the pots. It seems to appear from nowhere and has scared the living daylights out of me more than once. It's orange eyes shine like jack-o-lanterns in the black fluffy fur. I've yet to catch a glimpse of it's nether regions so I'm not sure if it's a he or she.
Our two ginger boys do not like the interloper! Sadly, wee Spuddy's heart condition has deteriorated quite rapidly this week and we've been forced to face the inevitability of losing him in the coming days. I couldn't bear to make an applique of him yet, I tried but howled myself silly instead.
I've also included the templates for a possum, raccoon, and fox - you may not like cats and may prefer to add a critter more natural to your area. Our local possums love to eat flower petals and strawberries!

I don't have anything else to show you this week. It's been a bit of a week for us with very sick elderly rellies, Spuddy deteriorating, a flooded bedroom, and thrice flooded laundry. In the (famous) words of Princess Anne, the past week and possibly the coming week, can naff off!
I must be off, I can hear my youngest daughter sobbing again. She's never lost a pet before, is extremely soft-hearted, and it's hurting real bad.
Take care, love to you all, toni xx
